DBT Assist Supporting DBT Skill Development
Our DBT and DBT Informed groups are run in person on the Gold Coast (QLD), Brighton (VIC) or online via Zoom! All the resources for the DBT group you attend are accessible via this DBT Assist website which serves a similar purpose to a University or Tafe education portal.
Content is released weekly by your facilitators to support your development and mastery of DBT skills and resources. Your individual therapist can also access this portal to support your DBT skills development. Your individual therapist's role in DBT is to help with integrating the skills taught in group into your every day life. To support this your individual therapist will ask you to complete a diary card and may perform a behavioural chain analysis during individual sessions or role play scenarios relating to effective strategies in stressful and overwhelming situations. .
Important Information about this Group
DBT Assist is a service of the Australian DBT Institute
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
All participants of DBT Groups are advised to have an individual therapist. DBT groups are designed to learn and master a range of resources rather than therapy. Our groups equip attendees with the resources and individual therapists help attendees utilise the resources where needed in their lives!
GROUP FORMAT
Participants are sent videos to watch in preparation for groups
Group starts with a mindfulness exercise
Everyone in the group then presents their homework from the previous week
We review and clarify the videos watched in preparation for group
We set new homework/practice task
MEASURING YOUR PROGRESS
To help our team support your progress all participants are asked to complete self-reporting measures. On DBT Assist we use the DASS-21, DERS & K-10 to measure the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. Your individual therapist is available for any questions.
GROUP PAYMENTS
The cost of groups will depend on how you are paying and how often. We offer a larger discount for individuals paying upfront compared to other payment arrangements as it takes less admin time to follow-up a one off payment. Payment is required for the full module not for weeks attended.
HOMEWORK
Homework is not a fun word we know! To get the most out of your DBT group and to make changes to achieve the life you want to be living, we set weekly skill practice tasks (yes homework). The practice tasks focus on using the skills acquired in groups in your everyday life. Not during highly stressful times, we will ask you to use skills in easier scenarios first!
ONGOING ACCESS
DBT Assist supports individuals with 24/7 access to DBT related resources including videos, worksheets and more! Access is ongoing once you have completed this module. You can log into DBT Assist on your mobile device, laptop, computer or tablet anytime you need a DBT skills refresher!
